New Wage Boost for Essential Workers

The New Wage Boost for Essential Workers is a financial support program for low-income part time and seasonal workers (with income less than $2500 per month) in the essential service sectors. Such workers are now eligible to claim the $2,000 Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB).

Essential low-income frontline workers in Hospitals, Nursing Homes, Food Supply or Retail Services are at high financial and medical risk due the current Covid-19 Pandemic. These are some of the toughest jobs in the country right now and they are being asked to work only at a single facility, their income could reduce to very less, thus exposing them to financial instability.

‘Top up to the Salaries of low-income Essential Workers’

Frontline workers are working hard to ensure that Canadians are safe, taken care off in the hospitals and have food to survive this difficult time. Through ‘New Wage Boost for Essential Workers’ provinces and territories will be able to provide their low-income essential workers with a top up to provide much needed boost to those on the front-line.

Eligible Workers:

Frontline workers with incomes less than $2500 per month are eligible to claim CERB as a top up.

How to apply:

If you are an eligible frontline worker then you can apply directly for the $2000 CERB top up at the Government of Canada portal for CERB.
